Southern Anti-Racism Network hosted a forum on August 25th to explore the history of the Confederate Battle Flag as adopted in 1956 by the Georgia State Legislature as the state flag.

State Representative Calvin Smyre and State Representative Carolyn Hugley were invited to participate. Both Representative Smyre and Representative Hugley talked about their experiences in 2003 when Governor Roy Barnes led the initiative to remove the Confederate Battle Flag symbol from the state flag.

A brief history was be presented by Theresa El-Amin of the Confederate battle flag as adopted across the South.

The call to remove the Stone Mountain Confederate monument was also discussed.
